September Swarm

Yesterday morning, my dog and I took a walk around an old farm near our house that now is a wildlife management area. At the end of our walk, the sun came out from behind a cloud and illuminated a massive swarm of little insects. There seemed to be millions of them, filling the air and billowing their way across a field.

I took this image of the swarm with a very short focal length. The insects that were closest to me are more in focus, while the ones behind them appear as little circles of light.
