Mobile Sauna/ Oyster Farm

I recently got to photograph Jackie Stratton, owner of Cedar Grove Sauna, while she was set up at Glidden Point Oyster Farms in Edgecome, Maine. Jackie has three saunas – two on her farm in Montville and this traveling version that she built in a cherry-red horse trailer.

Early morning visitors to Glidden Point enjoyed a sauna overlooking the Damariscotta River. Jackie swept the dock, making a safe path for bare feet. Trawlers rounded up pogie, a popular bait fish used in lobster traps. Sarah, a Glidden Point employee, sorted shellfish while she answered questions about oyster farming as @thesaltwatercowgirl on TikTok Live. Ready to cool off, the sauna-goers walked down to the dock and soaked in tidal river water flowing through empty oyster bins.
